Poker becomes popular among college students

In the past few years, poker has been gaining popularity among students in campuses across the United States. Last summer, a national survey showed that half of male college students gamble on card games at least once a month.

According to students, Texas Hold’Em is the most popular game because it is easy to learn and challenging at the same time. Some say poker is strongly linked to athletics and has become a kind of sport.

The Gaming Association of Pennsylvania State (GAPS) declared Brad Carson (sophomore-chemical engineering) one of the poker champions this year.

Carson thinks the game is gaining popularity because now the police make it so difficult to drink and have fun. "After I saw the movie Rounders, I was drawn in. The strategy and mystique of the game is unlike any other" Carson said.

Most universities in the United States don’t have a gambling policy in campus dorms.
